About

Cortney Bishop is the principal designer and owner of Cortney Bishop Design (CBD), a full-service interior design firm in Charleston, South Carolina, founded in 2007.

Specializing in custom residential builds, Bishop has grown her business by collaborating with homeowners, architects, and contractors to create a robust portfolio of diverse, inspiring homes—each reflective of a client’s lifestyle and personality. Bishop has also earned success in multi-family communities as well as in the commercial realm with restaurants, storefronts, and most recently, the opening of The Ryder hotel in Charleston.

Bishop’s design vision runs the gamut of style and structure, balancing creativity, comfort, and functionality with a dose of modern flair. An avid globetrotter, Bishop looks to her travels, as well as her love of art, music, and fashion for inspiration. Her wide-ranging talent and innate ability to mix patterns and hues has resulted in a robust portfolio of inspiring residential and commercial projects that evoke an undeniable energy and effortless sense of cool that has become a CBD signature. Her work has been recognized by leading publications such as Architectural Digest, Better Homes & Gardens, Domino, Elle Decor, Luxe Interiors + Design, House Beautiful, Rue, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal.

In addition to her interiors firm, Bishop is also the creative director of Harwood House, a premier line of woven textiles created in collaboration with Holland & Sherry. Most recently, in December 2022, Bishop launched her new brand, Album, a tracklist of art and design, featuring exclusive content in an immersive collection of furniture, art, fashion, and decor highlighting artisans from around the world through her unique e-commerce platform.
