Foreign owned energy giant Iberdrola asked the Public Service Commission for Nearly nine-percent increases for the typical Rochester Gas and Electric (RG&E) customer which amounts to almost $15 more a month. Five and 12-percent increases for New York State Electric and Gas (NYSEG) customers  or almost $17 more a month. 

Spanish owned Iberdrola originally proposed massive increases for both electric and gas only to later lower the request. Iberdrola USA's Chief Operating Officer Kevin Walker denied the company inflated the original request so it could use the ratepayer concessions for itself
