Battery Back up Inverters for Emergancies
Battery Back-up inverters can be consider these a separate type of inverter altogether. They combine the grid tie functionality with the benefits of being connected to a battery bank and/or a standby generator. The battery bank allows you to store power for those emergency power outages.
If there is no grid energy available, the mu
lti-function inverter will draw energy from your batteries. If the battery bank is drained, the inverter will draw power from the conventional grid (utility lines).The down side to this type of inverter is they have a higher cost, than traditional string inverters. Secondly most grid power is stable except for occasional weather outage. In most places power outages are very infrequent. The additional cost of the inverter, and the batteries does not make since for most people but, If you are the type of person whom being without electricity for a few hours is not possible or is a major inconvenience then this type of system is for you
